Wolf Burgers is a burger joint you’ve surely heard of, thanks to their hearty, comforting burgers that don’t quite compare to others. Here we sit down with one of their founders, Soh Wen Ming, to chat about their brand new menu, the key to an amazing burger, fusion trends and more!
The new menu
The changes are very customer-centric. We are passionate about R&D and regularly experiment with new and fresh ingredients. We engage in multiple food tasting sessions both in house and externally to ensure that we are constantly improving our offerings. We sent out a lot of market surveys to see what our regular (and non-regular) customers actually wanted on the menu. You’ll see we’ve kept all the favourites and added brand new creations here and there to shake things up! It was important to us to touch base with our people and see what they really crave.
Ingredients to a great burger
Our goal is to make burgers that absolutely everyone can enjoy – no matter where you’re from or what you do. With that in mind, it’s important to control every part of the process and know why you are doing what you’re doing. Aside from that, be meticulous. You need to always use premium ingredients with an emphasis on freshness. Amazingly good beef. Unbeatable seasoning. And last but not least, build an extremely passionate team with the right focus and energy. You can’t get a good burger if just one of these things is missing.
The menu creation process
My wife and our head chef, Sarah, went through flavours to look for the perfect blend of familiar and comforting yet creative and exciting. We want to sell creative comfort food that gives you all your favourite flavours in the best possible burger form. The burger names are often related to disruption of some kind – being unconventional and disrupting the burger industry by proving that great, comforting tastes don’t need to come at ridiculous prices.
The rising trend of fusion burgers
As humans, we have an inbuilt understanding and liking of good aesthetics, so it’s not surprising that these trends catch on. In my opinion though, following trends is a short term approach. You’re just riding the wave. When it comes to long term, it’s the classic dishes that will keep people coming back. Our three best sellers are still the WOLF Burger, the Magic Mushroom Burger and our Salted Egg Fried Chicken Burger.
